Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area airs on Netflix starting Friday (6/24/2022). This adaptation series collaborates with a row of famous actors, such as Park Hae Soo, Yoo Ji Tae, Kim Yun Jin, Jeon Jong Seo to Park Myung Hoo. Presenting a more fresh and unique adaptation story, Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Korea (2022) presents South Korean wisdom. IDN Times has watched, and found 6 advantages and disadvantages of Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area (2022).
Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area (2022) features the same characters as the original series. It's just that, packaged in a more fresh and unique way. For the loyal audence of Money Heist (2017), it will be easy to see the other side of Tokyo, Berlin, Nairobi, and Denver. In the first 6 episodes, these four characters are quite stealing the attention.
1. Money Heist Korea presents characters that are fresher, as well as unique
The writer and director features the Hahoe masked gang of robbers from North and South Korea. They did not forget to add details of the dialect of each region which made the characters more diverse. The selection of actors from each character also needs to be thumbs up. The decision of Director Kim Hong Sun and Writer Ryu Yong Jae gave birth to new details in each character, making their roles more relatable to South Korean society.
Acting Park Hae Soo (Berlin), Jeon Jong Seo (Tokyo), Yoo Ji Tae (Professor), Kim Ji Hoon (Denver), Jang Yoon Ju (Nairobi), Lee Hyun Woo (Rio), Kim Ji Hoon (Helsinki), and Lee Kyu Ho (Oslo) from the gang of robbers will be loved by fans. Park Myung Hoo's acting as Cho Young Min, the Director of Money Printing is guaranteed to make the audience excited. Unfortunately, the figure of Anne (Lee Si Woo) who was made quite vocal, was not explored in part 1.
2. Money Heist with the wisdom of the Korean Peninsula
The attraction presented by this drama adaptation is their very Korean elements and characteristics. The audience can see in terms of characters, plot, setting, to other details.
Instead of imitating the original series, Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area (2022) seems to regenerate the existing characters and conflicts. The key characters of the robbers, namely Berlin and Tokyo, are depicted as North Koreans.
Although the majority of robber gangs come from South Korea, they present the diversity of their region of origin. These details will be clearly visible from their dialect, gestures, to their expressions.
In addition, presenting a plot containing the issue of the unification of the Korean Peninsula is considered appropriate. This issue is not only of interest to the South Korean audience, but the whole world.
One other important detail is the selection of masks as the icon of the robbers. If in the original series they chose the Dali Mask, Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area (2022) comes with the Hahoe Mask.
These two masks have the same meaning. But the unique and traditional impression of the Hahoe Mask adds to the wisdom of Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area (2022).
3. The audience is invited to dream if the unification of North and South Korea occurs
The conflict between North and South Korea is an interesting issue. It is undeniable, if the unification of the Korean Peninsula is desired by many parties, including the people of South Korea.
Through this series, Writer Ryu hopes that the unification of North and South Korea occurs in the future. This series also presents the possibility that will happen if the unification is true.
Having lived for years apart, of course the internal conflicts of the two Korean people will still be visible. Such as the existence of trust issues to differences in culture and habits.
In addition, an artificial city called JEA also stole the attention. Director Kim and Writer Ryu describe the conditions that might occur in the city when the unification occurs.
The audience will be spoiled by the location setting that is like North Korea, but on the other hand it has South Korean elements. Although from two different countries, tolerance between countries may occur at critical times.
4. The original details of the series Money Heist (2017) are not lost
Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area (2022) still has the same storytelling style as the original series. The narrator of the series is still entrusted to Tokyo.
In the first half of each episode, the audience will be presented with the story of each character. Broadly speaking, the flow that is presented is exactly the same.
Director Kim and Writer Ryu tried to introduce the unique characters of the characters through scene by scene. While the Spanish version of Money Heist (2017) is thick with mature scenes, Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area (2022) is softer.
Viewers of the original Money Heist (2017) might be a bit surprised by some of the differences that are presented. But for new viewers, this drama looks fresh and interesting.
Although some of the characters in the Korean version really stole the show. Maybe some viewers will prefer the original figure in the Spanish version.
5. Presents 6 episodes in part 1, the plot is made more dense and detailed
Money Heist part 1, the first season, which was released on May 2, 2017, features 13 episodes. The audience is presented with a gripping and adrenaline-pumping plot
Meanwhile, Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area (2022) comes with 6 episodes in part 1. One of the characteristics of Korean dramas is that it presents a dense, efficient, but still detailed plot.
These three experiences are what the audience will feel after enjoying the 6 episodes. Every scene that is presented has meaning and purpose.
6. Guaranteed to make the heart beat fast and upset
Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area (2022) will feature the biggest heist in Korea. Of course the story of the robbers and the police team will stimulate adrenaline. Especially the conflicts that arise between the robbers and the hostages. The uniqueness of the character is also presented through the characters of the hostages in the Money Printing building.
The appearances of Park Myung Hoo (Cho Young Min) and Kim Sung Oh (Cha Moo Hyuk), are needed to add color to this drama. Even so, the audience will still be exasperated and upset. Scenes of action, explosions, and shootouts will not be separated from this drama. The more diverse backgrounds make the conflicts that are present also vary.
Even so, the audience will be complacent and curious about the couple. Starting from the father-son relationship from Moscow-Denver, the passionate love story of Professor-Senior Inspector Seon Woojin (Lisbon), the love for the location of Denver-Yoon Mi Sun (Stockholm) to the tug-of-war charm of Tokyo-Rio. This Korean drama will present a new experience for lovers of the original Money Heist (2017), as well as interesting for new viewers. With all the advantages and disadvantages, the author gives a rating of 8/10.
